Paste PaletteWhy does macOS list Paste Palette under Accessibility?
Paste-back posts a synthetic ⌘V into the app that was frontmost when you pressed ⇧⌘V. That grant is PostEvent. System Settings files it under Accessibility. The app does not use the Accessibility API, does not read other apps' UI, and does not watch keys.
If you decline the grant, Paste Palette still copies the item and asks you to press ⌘V yourself.
Gatekeeper blocked the first launch.
The build is Developer ID signed. On first open, macOS may ask you to confirm. Open the app from Finder once, or right-click Open. After that it launches normally.
What is the trial?
Fourteen days from first launch, every feature, no history cap. No email. The clock lives in the Keychain on that Mac. When it ends, capture pauses and the panel opens read-only. Search, Peek, and copy still work. Paste keys do not, until you enter a license. History is not deleted.
After the trial, a license is $22 once.
How do I buy?
Use Buy Now on this site. Checkout runs on Stripe, which takes the payment and handles the tax. Your card statement shows the charge as LINK.COM*, Stripe's payment service. The price is $22 once, tax included.
Paste Palette itself offers Buy Paste Palette… in the menu bar item, in Settings › License, and on the bar the panel shows once the trial ends. Each opens the same checkout in your browser.
After you pay, the key shows on the thank-you page and arrives by email from licenses@alongside.dev. Paste it into Settings › License › Activate.
I lost my license key.
Type the email you bought with into the form below, and the key is sent to that address again. The form gives the same answer whether or not that address bought, so it doesn't reveal who is a customer. You can also write to hello@alongside.dev.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Write to hello@alongside.dev from the email you bought with within 30 days of purchase, and Stripe can refund a purchase for up to 60 days under its own policy. After a refund, the license stops working and the panel opens read-only, the same as after the trial. History is not deleted.
Does Paste Palette check my license online?
At most twice per purchase: about 65 and 130 days after you bought. Each check sends the order id and a one-way name for the Mac that is asking, to licenses.alongside.dev. Nothing about your clipboard.
Entering a key is the one moment the app needs the internet, because that is when it asks for one of your license's three places.
A check that fails or can't reach the server never locks you out. You stay licensed, and it tries again a week later. Once both checks pass, it never checks again. The license turns off only if the purchase was refunded or reversed, or if you released that Mac yourself.
How many Macs can I use it on?
Three at a time. Setting up a Mac takes one of the three places, and releasing it gives the place back, so you can move your license around your own machines as often as you like.
Release a Mac in Settings › License › Release This Mac. If it's gone — sold, lost or dead — paste your key at licenses.alongside.dev/machines and we'll email a link to the address you bought with, so you can free it from there.
Setting up a fourth Mac tells you which three are in the way, and when each was last used, so you know which one to let go.
Which Macs?
macOS 26 or later. Apple silicon and Intel, as long as the OS is 26. There is no Windows build and no iPhone app in this version.
Does it steal focus?
No. Quick Paste is a non-activating panel. The app you were typing in stays active. That is a hard requirement, not a preference.
Will it save the password I just copied?
Not if the password manager marked it Concealed. Those copies are skipped entirely. Detected keys without a marker are stored encrypted and veiled. Pause with ⇧⌘P if you want a stretch of copies ignored.
Can I search text inside a screenshot?
Not in this version. OCR is later. Find screenshots by looking at the thumbnail, the source app, or the time.
Does it sync?
Not in this version. iCloud sync is planned for 2.0 as an opt-in, with masked items excluded. A paid 2.0 upgrade of about $10 is planned when sync and rules ship; 1.x keeps working.
What is Paste as…?
⌃⌘V opens a chooser on the newest clipboard item. Pick Markdown, HTML, PNG, JPEG, WebP, or another format already available on the pasteboard. Copy once; paste in the form the field wants. File conversion is built in — no side trip through another app.
What are Reactions?
GIFs and short movies (30 seconds or less) live in their own library, not mixed into everyday history. In the panel, ⌘R scopes to Reactions. Import a folder of pictures as Reactions. Opt-in auto-categorizing can tag new ones for you.
How do I capture a color?
⇧⌘C opens the system color loupe and stores a Color tile. No separate picker app.
Hotkey already used by Pastebot or Flycut.
⇧⌘V is the default, and it is the same chord Pastebot 3 and Flycut use. Rebind it in Settings › Hotkeys. ⌃⌘V opens Paste as… and is also rebindable.
