The license
A license is a one-time purchase of $22, tax included. It is not a subscription. It covers the current major version of Paste Palette, for your personal use.
How many Macs
A license covers three Macs at a time. Setting one up takes one of the three places; releasing it gives the place back, so you can move a license to a new Mac as often as you like.
Release a Mac from Settings › License › Release This Mac. If the Mac is gone — sold, lost or broken — go to licenses.alongside.dev/machines, paste your key, and we email a link to the address you bought with; the page then lists your Macs and lets you free any of them.
This is a limit on how many Macs run it at once, not on which Macs. Nothing stops you moving a license between your own machines, and no Mac ever loses its place because another one was set up.
Payment and tax
Alongside Software, LLC sells Paste Palette. Checkout runs on Stripe: Sold through Link, LLC, a Stripe company, is the merchant of record, takes the payment, and handles any sales tax or VAT. Your purchase shows as "Sold through Link" on the receipt, and as LINK.COM* with our name on your card statement. The receipt comes from Link, not from us.
Refunds
Write to hello@alongside.dev from the email you bought with and we will refund you within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. Link has its own refund policy and can refund a purchase for up to 60 days, whatever we say here; where the two differ, Link's policy wins.
A refunded license stops working, and Paste Palette goes read-only, the same as after the trial. History is not deleted.
License checks
Paste Palette checks a license at most twice per purchase, sending the order id and a one-way name for the Mac that is asking — never anything you copied. A check that fails or can't reach the server never locks you out.
Activating a key is the one time the app needs the internet, because that is when it asks for one of the license's three places. The privacy page has the details.
